In high school Deanna Morelli competed for McKee-Staten Island Tech (MSIT). She
was a nine-time NYC Champion in events as varied as the high jump, shot put,
discus, and javelin. In the pentathlon she was high school All-America and
holds the record for Staten Island. She holds Mayors Cup double titles in both
high jump and shot put. Her high school career ended in great style when she was
selected the Eastern State Girls MVP for field events and the PSAL
Heisman-Wingate awardee for indoor track.
On the college level, Deanna competed for Vanderbilt University as a freshman
and sophomore, where she earned letters and placed on the lists of Vandy's
all-time record-holders: third in hammer throw, fourth in javelin, fifth in
discus, indoor shot and weight throw. As a junior and a senior, she competed
for the University of Pennsylvania where she again earned letters and is ranked
sixth on the list of all-time record-holders in the javelin.
