In 1972, Hall finished fifth in his first New York City Marathon. For the next
three years after that when the marathon was run in Central Park, against the
best distance men in the Northeast Art finished fourth, fourth and sixth. When
the race moved onto the streets of the five boroughs, and the number of entries
greatly expanded, he still finished among the leaders.
Art finished in the top 10 of the NYC marathon 4 times - 72-73-74-75. His
Central Park PR was 2:27:26 and his best finish in the Boston Marathon was 19th.
He won the Staten Island Triple Crown in 1984 and holds the Staten Island record in 7 miles, 15K, 12 miles, 25K
and 30K. He won the Penn Relays Marathon in 1975 with a time of 2:27:52. Art also formed the North Shore Track Club in the 1980's.
