Arnold Obey
SITRAC board members Randy Horowitz and Arnold Obey put their money where their mouth is and have completed fall marathons.
Horowitz, an administrator at Eden II completed the recent Marine Corp Marathon, in Washington D.C. in 4:20:22. Horowitz a member of the board for under one year completed her 13th marathon.(PR 3:56 in 2000) She raised over $3,000 for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR).She said "despite icy roads to the start,frozen toes and muddy sneakers, this marathon was one of my favorites because I was on the course with two of my favorite running buddies-Jamie and Alie, 21 year old twin boys who have competed several marathons despite having autism"
Obey, a veteran of 43 marathons completed his 32nd straight NYC Marathon in 5:30. Yes, that was 32 straight! Obey is a retired Principal of P.S. 31 in New Brighton and has been retired for 9 years.
The Manor Ht's. resident has a P.R of 3:31:33 from 1982. Obey stated "after 32 years of running the N.Y.C. Marathon the 26.2 mile distance seems to be getting longer and longer"
SITRAC is proud of these two board members and the great example they have set.
