New youth running club Island Express coach Rob "Little" Freeman was in attendance. Congratulations Mike Cassidy
Staten Islander Mike Cassidy, formerly of Staten Island Tech. H.S and the University of Pennsylvania, had one of the greatest days in local NYC Marathon History. Cassidy ran the third fastest marathon time in Staten Island history. Only Frank McConville and the great Art Hall have run faster. Cassidy's time of 2:24.05 was the second fastest NYC Marathon time in SI history to McConville. He was the 6th American finisher! Cassidy runs for the Greater NY Running club out of Manhattan. The qualifying time for the 2012 Olympic Marathon trials is 2:19.00. Running on a flat and fast course could push Cassidy below that mark. Congratulations Mike, Staten Island and SITRAC are very proud of you.
